It gives families time to play, bond and spend quality time together. It is the perfect outdoor Adventure suitable for the whole family. Come and unwind on the river!

Food Menu

We provide all meals from arrival evening to departure morning. All the wholesome meals are prepared on the river rafting expedition. We source all our fresh produce locally in Namibia. However, fresh produce & other fruits are sometimes in short supply. We thus suggest that the clients bring along fresh fruits & produce to bring along on the river. Any special dietary requirements you may have should be specified clearly on your booking form when booking your rafting trip.
We only cater for basic and vegetarian diets. For any other dietary need you are encouraged to bring your own preferred replacement products with. We will supply you with our detailed menu in order for you to gage what replacement products you will need to bring. We offer a discount of R200.00 per person with a dietary need we do not cater for.

Family Special Rafting Itinerary

How Our Trips Work

You will arrive day 1 for supper // day 2 – 5 on river and return the afternoon to base camp // leave the 6th day after breakfast.
We write it as: day 1 arrive // day 2 – 5 on river // day 6 depart

Arrival At base camp

Arrive at our base camp, just across the Namibian border. Our camp manager will be there to welcome you. You may want to take a refreshing swim or play a game of volleyball after your day of travelling.
Supper is served at 7pm. We start getting to know each other around the campfire and 8pm we give a “packing speech”.
Here we teach and show you how to pack your luggage, liquid refreshments, and personal belongings. This is a suitable time to ask all those questions that has been building up about what to expect on river. Your friendly guide will be more than happy to put all your nerves to rest!

1st day on river

After an early breakfast, your guide will give you a safety talk and equipment demonstration. Here they will teach and show you how to paddle, what to do if you capsize and how to be safe when in a rapid.
Before you go onto the river, you can fill your cooler box with ice.
You will spend most of the morning drifting and getting the hang of paddling!
Your first lunch break on the banks of the river, with the majestic surrounding mountains will astound you.
We continue downstream until we find a campsite where we can camp for the night. Sleep under the star-lit heavens above.

2nd & 3rd day on river

Discover what it is like to wake up in the desert. Later, you may climb up to an abandoned fluorspar mine, where you will be rewarded with a huge panorama of the Richtersveldt and Orange River as it winds its way through the desert.
Each day follows a pattern – languid drifting with the current; hopping in for a swim when you wish; tossing a frisbee; or just lying back and taking it easy. We spend each night at a site of our choice on the banks.
On day 3 you will resupply at Sjambok.

4th & final day on river

On this, the last day, you will be picked up at the end point at Aussenkehr between 2 pm and 4 pm. Well done, you have rafted approximately 60km on your trip. A drive through the semi-desert will return us all to the Base camp. After a refreshing swim, you can enjoy a few sundowners, while the guides prepare supper. You overnight with us in the camp.

Departure from River Rafters base camp

After an unforgettable journey on the river, you are free to depart back home after breakfast.

Accommodation Options

Option 1 – CAMP:

You camp with your own gear for all evenings of the trip. Cost for camping is already included in costs for the trip.

Option 2 – CHALET UPGRADE:

You camp with your own gear for the nights on the river, but should you wish to not pitch your tent on our green lawns for your first and last evening with us at our camp, we have lovely chalets available to which you can upgrade. Availability is dependent on the dates you choose.

Please complete the rafting booking form and indicate on the booking form if you would like to upgrade to Chalet accommodation for the first and last night at the camp.

Option 3 – CAMP & CHALET PACKAGE:

This package is available to the ones in your group who does not want to bring their own camping gear for the evenings on the river and who also prefers to stay in a chalet for the first and last evening at our camp. Availability is dependent on the dates you choose.

We have a Chalet and Camping packet. This packet consists of:

First night chalet accommodation (to share- subject to availability)
Last night chalet accommodation (to share- subject to availability)
All camping gear for the days on the river.

The camping gear that forms part of this packet per person is as follow:

1x chair
1x sleeping bag.
1x yoga mat
all cutlery
2-man tent (to share).

All gear will be provided to you on the arrival day and will be available until your return to the base camp. All camping gear will be transported upon your own rafts -guides will not transfer any gear. Pitching of tents and camping gear will be your own responsibility. This is the basic camping gear requirements for on the river. If you require any additional gear, you will have to bring it along.

Camping Gear
There is no permanent accommodation set up on the riverbanks, you will need to bring your camping gear for the nights on the river.
