Namibia Tourist/Holiday Visa Requirements

RSA passport holders do not currently need visas for tourism in Namibia. However, non-South African citizens should check visa requirements before traveling. They can inquire with:

It’s essential to ensure that your visa permits entry into Namibia and allows for return to South Africa or another country.

For non-South Africans residing in South Africa and South Africans with dual citizenship:

  • South Africans with dual citizenship and non-South Africans residing in South Africa should ensure all necessary paperwork is in order for exiting and re-entering South Africa. They can contact Home Affairs for requirements.
  • Permanent residents in South Africa must depart on a valid South African passport or have a permanent residency stamp in their non-South African passport.

COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE VISAS TO ENTER NAMIBIA FOR HOLIDAYS (ALL PASSPORT TYPES)

Angola, Botswana, Brazil, Cuba, Eswatini, Hong Kong, China, lndonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Macau, China, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Russian Federation, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

IMPORTANT HOLIDAY VISA REQUIREMENT UPDATE APPLICABLE FROM 1 APRIL 2025:

Nationals and citizens of countries that have not reciprocated Namibia’s gesture of visa exemption will be required to apply for a visa in order to enter Namibia. The implementation date for visa regime is 1 April 2025.

The new visa regime is applicable to nationals from the following countries.

THE COUNTRIES BELOW ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR A VISA TO ENTER NAMIBIA AND CAN APPLY FOR A VISA-ON-ARRIVAL OR E-VISA ONLINE. 

  • EUROPE:
    Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Moldova, Poland, Romania, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom.
  • NORTHERN AMERICA:
    United States of America, Canada.
  • ASIA:
    Armenia, Cambodia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
  • AFRICAN COUNTRIES:
    Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameron, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Principe, Sierre Leone, Tunisia, Togo, Uganda, Western Sahara Republic.
  • OTHER COUNTRIES:
    Argentina, Australia, Chile, Ecuador, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Vatican/Holy See, Venezuela.

*Country names can be added or removed at any time – please check with Namibian Consulate.

Where to apply for a visa:

1) Apply for visas online via https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na before arriving in Namibia, thereby reducing the time spent at immigration counters. (Must bring a printed copy of e-visa to port of entry)
2) On arrival at Namibian ports of entry, if eligible.

Visa fees:

Adults & Children 12 years and above:

  • N$ 1,600 for citizens from non-African countries
  • N$ 1,200 for citizens from African countries
    *These fees are subject to an annual review.

Children 6 to 11 years:

  • N$ 800 for citizens from non-African countries
  • N$ 600 for citizens from African countries
    *These fees are subject to an annual review.

Children under the age of 6:

  • No charges apply.
Documents required:
1) For online applications (as per https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/holidayvisa-services):
  • Passport with 3 clean pages valid for at least 6 months
  • Completion of the visa application form (sign the same as on your passport)
  • Each applicant, including minors, must complete a separate visa application form.
  • Certified copies of the passport from the country of origin
  • Invitation letter from the inviter, if invited
  • Deed of surety form signed by the inviter, if invited
  • Proof of a confirmed return ticket
  • Six (6) months bank statement from the inviter, if invited
  • Current status of the inviter, if invited
  • If through a travel agency Motivation letter from a travel agency or from the applicant.
  • Proof of a confirmed return ticket (Travel booking or plans as well as Medical/Travel insurance)
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings/resident)
  • Proof of financial statement for 6 months of the applicant (bank statement)
  • If you are a Family (Wife and Children with age less than 17 do not require uploading the Power of Attorney) or Agent which is applying on behalf of the applicant you must upload the Power of Attorney signed by the applicant to apply for a Holiday Visa.
  • Visa fees: N$1200 upon approval for African Union Countries and N$1600.00 for others (*these fees are subject to change).

E-visa will be issued via the portal. Download and print e-visa to produce at the port of entry.

Travellers arriving in Namibia with Visa on Arrival online approval must ensure that they are prepared to present confirmation of any visa requirements upon entry if requested by Immigration officials.

2) Visas on arrival applications:

  • Passport with 3 clean pages valid for at least 6 months
  • Completed visa application form (sign the same as on your passport)
  • Invitation letter (if invited)
  • Proof of accommodation and travel booking and plans as well as Medical /Travel Insurance. (hotel reservation or invitation letter)

Note: lf you are applying for a visa on arrival at the port of entry, you must complete the arrival form in advance but only sign it in front of an lmmigration Officer.
